Session 3 - Among the Giant's Corpse
The two other investigators revealed themselves to be on a mission tasked by a superior. Arraz, the white-scaled dragonborn tried to be jaunty with the party but only received turns of the nose and various.... insults of character in response. Meanwhile Felitol, the pale drow of the two investigators tried to bring things back to the topic at hand and catches a stray insult at her seeming lack of going outside, which rebounded and hit Vordia too. As night falls, the two groups decided to camp together for safety, while still remaining some distance apart to keep trust in check. Through the night both sides were scoping each other out, but the dark goes on into the morning, where Arraz took another string of insults after preparing pancakes for the lot of everyone. Toni wolfed down most of the pancakes before anyone else got to them and Patch showed off their food flap.
After breakfast, the two teams of investigators, at Arraz's suggestion and followed up by Felitol, decided to put some coin on their goals to make it a fun little race. At Toni's request, Vordia tossed in three gold. Gab added three more to the pile, and Felitol and Arraz both put in six each. Whichever team would accomplish their goal first gets to take the pot.
With a brief countdown, the two investigators darted off toward the head of the fallen Maius, while the party tried to come up with a plan. Gab and Patch teamed up to go after the investigators, while Vordia, Toni, and Onika tried to find evidence of how the Maius suddenly collapsed or any other new information regarding it. Patch and Gab were hot on the tails (literally) of the investigators as they clambered up the left arm/shoulder of the Maius to find it resembling some sort of arm cannon. In the distance they spotted Arraz's long spikey tail flicking around the corner of the massive cow-like skull. They clambered up the back to try and get better sights on them. Meanwhile, Onika revealed a bit of their graviturgy, ascending to the skies to get a better view of the creature for where to start. They spotted a large gash in the back of the Maius, and descend to talk to the rest of the crew. Deciding to go there, Onika lined up gravity wells along the torso as Vordia and Toni struggle to figure out how to use them much to the goblin's amusement. They eventually made it up and began walking toward the head as well to make their way toward the gash that Onika had spotted.
Jumping back to Patch and Gab, the two climbed to the skull, where they bumped into Felitol and Arraz, who were suspicious that they were following them, saying they wanted the competition to only be friendly without sabotage. Passing them to head to the right shoulder, Gab and Patch decided to investigate the skull where they'd come from. Descending into one of the eye sockets, they found the trace of a spark of enchantment magic mixed with necromantic, wrapped around by a sort of latticework and something else entirely. Next they descended into the nostrils, where Patch struggled to fit through. Gab squeezed in to find the path down from the sinuses to be manually, magically sealed by stone. However, he noticed an imperfection in the seal that led to a crack beneath him to spot through rather thick bone what seemed to be an eye looking back at him. They slid down to the mouth next where they broke apart a tooth in order to get inside, only to be met again by a sealed stone wall on the inside. It grew thinner in places, and the two heard what sounded like footsteps and setting things down on the other side. Finally, they climbed back into the sinuses, making some room for Patch after they got stuck like three more times. Taking their brute force method, they began beating down into the crack with some clever uses of what they had on them to try to dig through the bone themselves.
Vordia and
Toni and Onika found their way to the gash to see a rather wide hole carving through this thing's spine. They hopped down and found some sort of vein-like tunnel covered in a sort of viscous substance. While they carefully navigated through, they slipped a few times and felt the burning bile of the Maius as they entered the liver. Onika begged to keep exploring and they moved through the various veins and tubes within the organs of the Maius. With many paths to go, they wanted to try to reach the head or heart if there were such a thing. Coming up to the throat they deftly leapt across the ridges lining it, with only some minor setbacks. Toni backed up into the upper mouth and slipped in some suspiciously placed slickshimmer oil, getting turned from a white cat to a black cat in a heartbeat. Continuing up the mouth, they began to hear banging noises and discovered Gab and Patch in the ceiling in the distance trying to whack through. Beneath where they were digging lay a wilted flower of sorts inside some sort of rusted wrist-bangle at its base, all resting in an oversized, humanoid face silently screaming in anguish.
Vordia, baffled by the robot and satyr's plans, walked up to give them a talking-to through the hole that they had carved. The moment she stepped in, the two familiar figures of Arraz and Felitol rushed Vordia, dealing enough damage to cut her down to unconscious in a single surprise round. In this ambush, the session came to a close.
